TELEMEDICINE AMIDST PANDEMIC IN 2021

PAOFI’s Fr. Angelo Falardi Health Clinic underwent a huge change with the provision of services to the beneficiaries. The Clinic was temporarily closed to prepare for the new normal way of facing their patients. We resumed our operations in the clinic last July 2020.

Stations for tuberculosis directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS), screening, consultation, laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy were placed to organize the services to be provided to the patients. Various signages were also placed inside and outside of the Health Clinic to remind the people of the health protocols they needed to strictly follow upon arriving at the clinic. Wearing a face mask and face shield are strictly required at all times while at the clinic premises.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) were used by the medical staff of the clinic during clinic hours for added protection against the possibility of contacting any type of disease.

Consultation with the doctors is now done online or we call it “Telemedicine”. With the help of a supervising nurse, the doctor gives diagnosis and prescriptions to the patients though virtual consultation using video conference from social media application. Although this setup can be very hard and tiring, the staff and volunteers of the health program always do their best to provide the best health services that they can offer to the poor community of Payatas.
