SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AMIDST PANDEMIC
With the resume of classes done online, marks the start of another journey with PAOFI Scholars. Last October 31, 2020, PAOFI distributed school supplies to the beneficiaries just like the usual way every year. The only difference is that health protocols and social distancing were strictly implemented to avoid the spread of virus. Total of 229 students from elementary to college were each given the basic school supplies they needed such as notebooks, pad papers, pencils, ball pens, folders etc.
PAOFI’s KUMON Tutorial Program continued in providing services to the scholars. Distance learning was imposed whereas every two weeks, parents of the scholars are tasked to get the worksheets at the Center. This will then be answered by the kids at home and are set to be given back for checking after another 2 weeks. Scheduled online classes were held by the instructors to guide the students in answering the worksheets. This has been a very challenging set up but it was still able to show progress in the scholars’ cognitive and academic development.
PAOFI did not forget to help the families of the scholars even after the suspension of the school year 2019-2020. Families of the beneficiaries were given rice and life-saving food packs during the most challenging times of the nationwide lockdowns.
